READING, SPARKY TREASURES, ETC. -- WEEKEND ADVENTURES

Since it's Friday, we can expect good things ahead.  Weekends are noted for wonderful things...aren't they?

Yes, and perhaps no, too.  For example, maybe you are one of those individuals who has to play catch-up with errands and chores throughout the weekend.  If so, you may face the days ahead with a certain amount of dread.

Or...if, like me, you sometimes push those tasks aside for a weekday (I know, lucky freelance person!), you might enjoy some reading, writing, movie-going, etc.

I do have to visit the tax accountant today, which I am approaching with a certain amount of anxiety, as I have no idea what the results will be.  Some idea, but I've been unpleasantly surprised before.

But I will try to be optimistic.  And if I'm not in too much distress afterwards, I plan to start reading some of my books.  I still have this one to finish....

Next week's reads will include this one, however, which I've excerpted on my Friday Memes post.

I also have some tempting books on "Sparky," my Kindle.  Remember how we had the "naming contest" awhile ago?  Well, here is one tempting read that's patiently waiting....

If you have an e-reader, do you ever wonder if those wonderful books will still be there when you get to them?  Or might they disappear one day...poof!  Off into the great unknown.

I have a basic mistrust of technology, even as I love its wonders and seeming magic.  What a quandary this presents for me...Alas.  So what are your thoughts about e-readers?  What happens when they're full?  Do books start disappearing, one by one?  Or maybe we just cannot add anymore books...yes, that's probably what will happen.  But then what???

Pondering moments on a Friday....

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY -- ONE DAY EARLY....

What exciting and special moments are you planning today?  Maybe you'll see a romantic movie with someone special, or perhaps you'd like to read a romantic suspense book.

I finished one yesterday on "Sparky," my Kindle reader, called Lancelot's Lady.  Click the title for my review.

My Sparky has other romantic tales just waiting for me, too, so I might just read some today.  But sometimes, the best kind of romantic offering can be found in the movies.  I'm thinking of going to see this one starring Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, and Adam Sandler.

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend....And today, I'm sending a special shout-out to my granddaughter Aubrey, who is celebrating her birthday today!

Have a great one!

MEET "SPARKY" -- A KINDLE SEQUEL

My Kindle has generated some excitement in my life, and some attention on my blog posts about it, from A Kindle Tale to What's In a Name?:  A Contest.

So now, for this "sequel" to those stories, I have decided upon a name for my Kindle.  As you may have guessed from the title, it's Sparky.   I owe this moniker to Southern Fiber Reads, whose pick "firefly," because of the fire images generated by "kindle," led me down a pathway of "sparks."  Hence, "Sparky."

Thank you, Emily, and she is the winner of the contest.  Even though my choice was not exactly the same as hers, the road to my choice was paved by her thought processes.

I also want to thank the others who participated, as it was so much fun to think about all the possibilities of how my little e-reader could become a member of my family.  Yes, when something has a name, whether it's a pet, a doll, or an e-reader, it joins the ranks of family members.

Right now, I'm enjoying a new read on my Sparky:  The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  This book is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I chose it for my Awesome Authors Challenge.  Yes, I've heard a lot about this book, so I'm eagerly anticipating discovering why other readers have loved it.

Now I'm off to read some more...but wait!  First I must do my thirty minutes of writing for the Row 80 Challenge!
